* Pre-requisite for jazz ensemble concurrent enrollment in 0 period Marching Band/ Orchestra
The audition times are as follows 3:30-5:30PM:
June 4 Jazz Auditions Saxes
June 5 Jazz Auditions Trumpets
June 6 Jazz Band Auditions Rhythm
June 7 Jazz Band Auditions Trombones
The audition process will include:
Winds-
All major Scales (Two octaves); Circle of fourths, eight notes swung at 120bpm
1 minute prepared Jazz Etude by students
Improvisation provided by Mr. Garcia
Sight Reading Prepared by Mr. Garcia
Rhythm Section:
Piano & Bass- (all above) plus be able to show competency in Latin, Swing, Funk
Drum Set- Be able to show competency in Latin, Swing, Funk, and Rock styles.
