WELCOME BACK! Dear Orchestra Students and Parents, I am excited for another year of orchestra at YLHS. This year we will graduate our first senior class, which is just fantastic. We will continue to have the following rehearsal schedule: String Orchestra students are expected to do a minimum of 50 minutes independent practice time and “Sinfonia” Orchestra students (auditioned) are expected to do a minimum of 75 minutes. Each week, the orchestra students will be required to submit a signed form from home, indicating that they have completed their independent practice time. Home concerts are a great way for parents to stay connected with the progress of their child! Also located on this website are the performance dates for orchestra, please enter all performance dates in your student planners and family calendars. Plan ahead! It is crucial to the success of the orchestra for us to have 100% attendance at each and every performance. Each student will receive a number of forms, which need to be returned to me right away. Our first class meeting will be Wednesday, September 7th at 7am in room 250. ALL STRINGS STUDENTS NEED TO BE IN THE ORCHESTRA ROOM ON THIS DAY! Students will receive music that is to be learned over the course of the first week and then played for me individually. This will help decide chair placement. Those students wishing to audition for our top “SINFONIA” orchestra, will do so after school on the second week of school. Parents, please consider assisting me as we provide your son/daughter with great experiences throughout the school year. I will provide your son/daughter with a list of activities that you can help me with. I look forward to seeing all of you at Back to School Night!
